John M. Coszalter

John Merle Coszalter, 50, passed away suddenly of a
heart attack Dec. 13, 2012, in Topeka, Kan.
He was born Feb. 23, 1962, in Trinidad, to John P. and Antoinette (Bellegante) Coszalter. John was
a 1980 graduate of Trinidad Catholic High School, Trinidad State Junior
College on a basketball scholarship (1982) and Regis University, Denver,
(1985) with a B.S. degree in Business Management.
John first worked for United Parcel Serive in
Denver; then was branch manager for udio Visual
Rentals, Inc., Denver; then worked at C & M Automotive Supply in
Trinidad, his dadís business. His railroad career began with the Colorado and
Sothern Railroad 32 years ago. He was currently a Crew Support Supervisor for
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway in Topeka.
John was an avid sports fan supporting the Denver Broncos, University of
Colorado Buffalos and the Denver Nuggets. He loved playing golf, riding his
motorcycles, listening to rock and roll, and the Colorado mountains. Cars and
motorcycles where his passion. Most of all, he loved life and people. Family
and friends were everything to John. Heíll be remembered for his bright
smile, eyes that lit up a room and the ability to tell a story and make you
laugh. He was a loving son and brother and, most of all, a very good man.
He is survived by his fiancťe, Maria McNorton, and
her two children, Ashley and Justin McNorton all of
Topeka; two sisters, Evelyn Dardanes and husband
Michael of Trinidad and Annette Cozalter of
Trinidad and Charles Keeter of Joplin, Mo.; one
niece Denille LePlatte
and husband Dustin, and one nephew/godson Devin Dardanes
and Daniel Flora of Denver; two great-nephews, Ralsten
and Reese LaPlatt of Trinidad; two aunts, Dorothy Battistone and Sr. Olivia Maric
Bellegante of Trinidad; and numerous cousins. He
was preceded in death by his parents, John and Antoinette, and grandparents
Pete and Vitalina (Lira) Coszalter
and Ernest and Ollie (Cornella) Bellegante.
Funeral will be Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, with Eulogy at 9:45 a.m. at Holy
Trinity Church followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow
at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnís family and friends.
Active pallbearers are Mike Dardanes, Charles Keeter, Chris Massarotti, John DeAngelis, Lou Sampson and Dennis Stroud.
A celebration of Johnís life will be in Topeka at a later date.
